DreamWorks announced on several occasions that starting with 2009, all of its movies will be produced in stereoscopic 3D. The partnership is very likely to lead to many breakthroughs in the industry, as it will combine Intel’s visual computing technology with DreamWorks’ experience on content creation.
“This alliance unites the best in computer-generated moviemaking and computing performance to deliver a new level of in-theater entertainment,” said Paul Otellini, Intel president and CEO, who also added that: “The high level of inventiveness at DreamWorks Animation has positioned it as a leader in entertainment technology, and incorporating the Intel platform allows them to deliver incredibly rich digital 3-D content to the big screen – raising the bar for the industry as a whole.”
DreamWorks’ CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg, also talked about the deal, saying that the company’s objective is to heighten the movie going experience and the best possible way of reaching its goal is to be assisted in its efforts by Intel’s top of the line computing products.
Intel announced its plans to further develop the next-generation 3D tools demanded by the company’s vision, which is set to offer the 3d viewing experience to many other platforms such as home theatres, mobile devices, video games, online environments and personal computers.
