Cynthia Rodriguez, A-Rod’s Wife, Files for Divorce

After a week of debating over Alex Rodriguez and Cynthia Rodriguez’s marriage, things look official as A-Rod’s wife filed for divorce Monday in Miami. According to E! Online, Cynthia Rodriguez said in her divorce petition that her husband had “emotionally abandoned” her and their kids and he “has left her with no choice but to divorce him.”

In addition to that, C-Rod’s petition mentioned the fact that Alex Rodriguez had “extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct.” With all the rumors that linked A-Rod to Madonna, the court papers didn’t mention the singer’s name. Moreover, Madonna herself denied those rumors, saying that she knew the Yankees player through Guy Oseary but they weren’t “romantically” involved. She also denied the rumors regarding her divorce, saying that she and her husband weren’t planning to separate.

As for what Cynthia Rodriguez wants from this divorce, well ..the list is long. She wants primary custody of the couple’s children 3-year-old Natasha and 3-month-old Ella, the $12 million home in Coral Gables, Fla. and she expects Alex Rodriguez to pay her alimony, health and life insurance and private school tuition for the kids. Alex Rodriguez is said to be worth about $445 million, reported TMZ.

In October 2002, Cynthia and Alex Rodriguez signed an ante-nuptial agreement but it remains to see if it is valid. According to Huston lawyer Earle Lilly, Cynthia was “devastated” and “tremendously traumatized,” reported TMZ.

C-Rod is represented by attorney Maurice Kutner, Anthony Sabatino of Miami and John Van Ness of Houston, while A-Rod hired Ira M. Elegant who was also Shaquille O’Neal’s lawyer.

Alex Rodriguez and Cynthia married in November 2002 and have two children.
