Angelina to Give Birth in Nice

Pregnant Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has checked in at the Santa Maria maternity clinic of seafront Lenval Hospital in Nice, France, said the hospital officials on Tuesday. She is doing well and is expected to give birth to twins in "the coming weeks," Michel Sussman, the movie star’s doctor said on Wednesday. The obstetrician did not disclose many details during a short news conference, refusing to reveal the sex of the expected babies or give a clear birth date. "What she needs now is simple surveillance by monitoring to ensure the good health of her babies in the weeks to come," Sussmann told reporters at the Lenval hospital.

The 33-year-old actress arrived at the hospital on Sunday by helicopter and has a suite of rooms reserved for her and her partner, Brad Pitt, which are constantly under the strict surveillance of their bodyguards.

Jolie and Pitt, 44, already have four children: Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2. When they adopted Pax from a Vietnamese orphanage in March last year, the couple already had their own daughter, Shiloh, who was born in Namibia in 2006. Maddox and Zahara were adopted by Angelina from orphanages in Cambodia and Ethiopia.

With the twins on their way, the couple lately moved into the Miraval Estate villa in Correns, a town in the Provence region.

After months of speculation surrounding her pregnancy, Jolie finally confirmed she was expecting twins in an interview at the Cannes film festival in May.

The Fondation Lenval, where Jolie is being under observation, is a 133-bed hospital in Nice, France, established in 1884, that is specialized in children and teens care.
