Actress Michelle Williams spoke up about rumors claiming she will be skipping the premiere of Heath Ledger's last movie "The Dark Knight," in which he plays the Joker, over tension with the late actor's family regarding his will.
A statement released Thursday by Williams' rep, Mara Buxbaum, stated, "The presumption that Michelle ever intended to attend The Dark Knight premiere is unfounded, but to say she is 'boycotting' due to a rift with Heath's family is absurd."
Recent reports suggested that Williams, Ledger's ex-girlfriend and mother of his daughter Matilda, was furious at his family and threatened to boycott the movie's premiere due to "issues" on how his estate is being handled by the actor's father, who was named as the executor.
An unnamed source told the New York Post that Williams is afraid Matilda's grandfather will spend the small fortune before Matilda turns 18 and can legally claim the money.
"Matilda is supposed to be the beneficiary of the will, but Michelle has seen nothing from them," the source told Page Six.
However, Buxbaum said the source was wrong and insisted that, "It is time to allow this family to go about their lives without this continued scrutiny and speculation."
According to the will, Ledger held 145,000 dollars of assets in the US but his fortune, estimated to be worth 20 million dollars, is mostly held in Australia.
A month after the actor's death, Ledger's uncles, Haydn and Mike, accused his father, Kim, of mismanaging their grandfather's estate in 1994, and said they had warned Williams she may have to fight for a slice of his inheritance.
Ledger's parents and sister confirmed that they are set to fly to New York from their home in Australia to attend "The Dark Knight" premiere on July 14 - six months after Ledger, 28, took a fatal overdose of prescription drugs at his Manhattan home.
