"Camp Rock" Attracts 8.86 Million Viewers

Camp Rock” was expected to be a big hit and it was. Teens tuned in Friday and watched the Jonas brothers and Demi Lovato in a summer camp. The premiere of Disney Channel's movie musical “Camp Rock” was the most watched program of the 2007-2008 season. The television movie had 8.86 million viewers, the majority being children and young teenagers, reported the Los Angeles Times.

Nielsen Media Research showed that almost half of all children between 6 and 14 have been watching television from 8 to 9.55 p.m. Two-thirds of that age category were girls. “Camp Rock” became the second most watched movie after “High School Musical 2” from last season. It had 3 debuts: on the Disney Channel, on ABC’s “Wonderful World of Disney” and on ABC Family.

The movie along with some sport events and news were the most viewed programs.

Game 6 of the NBA Finals from ABC was the most watched program of the week, with a total of 16.88 million viewers and was on top last year’s NBA finals. NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” was watched by 12.8 million viewers.
