The release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots managed to cause quite a buzz since its release a week ago. The game broke all sales records in Japan with a massive volume of over 450,000 units sold in just seven days and has become the market’s best seller for the PlayStation 3 consoles.
The game is at its seventh success with the series and many consider it to be the main reason for PS3’s new and improved sales figures. Sony wanted to make the best of the highly shown interest in its game and offered a pack made out of the console with an 80 Giga Bytes storage capacity, the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots game and the DualShock 3 wireless controller, all for $499.99.
Konami, which is the developer of the game, claims that Metal Gear Solid 4 offers a totally new concept and situation from the other releases, resulting in the toughest Metal Gear infiltration mission ever devised. The game is set after the events of MGS 2 and players will reprise the role of top secret agent Snake, a special operations agent and mercenary who works for a fictional black ops and espionage unit.
Gamers checking the series for the first time might have a little trouble with the missions and the story, as the game is filled with references to the other games and certain characters from past missions appear again.
The graphics look amazing, and the improved gameplay of the series offering a totally new experience in addition to the many new features, managed to earn the game several very complimentary reviews.
The first Metal Gear game was released by Konami in 1987 for the MSX2 home computer.
