In case we are not familiar with
the video gaming history, then Atari probably doesn’t ring any bell. Founded in
1972, Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, Atari was the biggest gaming companied in
the 80’s and it was responsible for revolutionary games such as Pong and the
video computer system, Atari 2600.
However, in 1977 Nolan Bushnell
sold Atari to Warner Communications and in 1982, Atari had become the fastest-growing company in the
history of American business.
Two years later, the company was
split in three parts and in 2001 Infogrames bought Atari brand.
After his departure from Atari,
Bushnell founded several other companies such as Catalyst Technologies Venture
Capital Group, Sente Games and uWink.
According to Variety, the script
of “Atari” will be written by Brian Hecker and Craig Sherman.
