Apple’s Back to School Promo Offers a Free iPod Touch
The rumors that Apple will launch one of the company’s most aggressive promotions in the recent years have come true. The ‘Back to School’ promotion offers a free 8GB iPod touch or iPod nano with each qualifying Mac computer, if the two are bought on the same receipt.

The offer is actually via rebate, so people who want to benefit from it will have to buy the two devices first, and then file their request at www.apple.com/promo, and wait for their money return. The promotion will last from June 3 through September 15, 2008.

The people who will be able to benefit of the promotion are faculty or staff of higher education institutions as well as the students who are attending or are accepted to these universities and who will buy the products from the Apple Retail Store, Apple Telesales or from one of the Apple authorized campus stores.

The Mac computers which qualify for the promotion are Mac Books, Mac Book Pros, Mac Book Airs and the iMac. The lower end computers like Mac Mini or the 17’’ iMac are excluded from the offer.

The buyers can opt for a 16GB or a 32GB iPod touch too, but they will receive a discount of only $299, the price of the 8GB similar device. People who wish to get the iPod Nano for free will be given a discount of $199.

Apple hopes that this move will make its iPod touch device even more popular, with students having the possibilities of using it as a minicomputer inside university campuses.
