After months of negotiations, the voice cast of "The Simpsons" series won the standoff with producer 20th Century Fox TV and got a raise.
The cast of the world-wide known animated series reached a four-year deal with the studio after the negotiations carried out during this weekend. According to the agreement, the top actors will get as much as $400,000 per episode (slightly lower that the $500,000 per episode they initially sought). However, it’s an important increase from their current paychecks of about $300,000 an episode.
Also, the new deal stipulates that Dan Castellaneta, who does the voice of Homer Simpson and has worked for the animated series for several years, was named a consulting producer.
Castellaneta, along with the other "Simpsons" voice players such as Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Yeardley Smith (Lisa) and Hank Azaria (Moe) will begin work for the 20th season of the animated film on Tuesday.
It is not clear yet which is the status of Harry Shearer, who voices Mr. Burns and Ned Flanders. He didn’t reach a deal with producer 20th Century Fox TV and it is not sure whether he will show up for work on Tuesday.
Due to the lengthy negotiations which cut into potential production time, the 20th season will have 20 episodes and not the usual 22.
