Four years after the successful series ended, the "Sex and the City" movie seeks to address Carrie's relationship with the financier known as Mr. Big (Chris Noth). It premiered at Leicester Square, London on 12 May and will be released May 30 here in the United States.
Starting off in present times, not where it left off four years ago, the movie finds Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her three gal pals, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) at crossroads.
Carrie is engaged to Mr. Big and planning a major New York wedding. Miranda is trying to work out a balance between her family life and career. Samantha relocated to Los Angeles to be with Smith, her boy toy, who became a TV star in the meantime, while Charlotte is happily married to Harry and the mother of their adopted daughter Lily.
Aside from the wedding-related incidents concerning the marriage of Carrie and Mr. Big, his name is also finally revealed: John James Preston. Also, Charlotte discovers she is finally pregnant, and Miranda is faced with infidelity problems from Steve.
The "Sex and the City" movie had a $65 million budget and is written and directed by Michael Patrick King. It runs 135 minutes and is distributed by New Line Cinema and HBO Films. Its stylist is the famous Patricia Field, who, together with the Sex and the City series, have been among the globe's most influential trendsetters for a decade, developing strong and distinct styles for each of the characters.
