"The Time Of My Life" was written by Regie Hamm, the winner of the second American Idol Songwriting Competition.

On Wednsday, David Cook was crowned the seventh American Idol, with 56 percent of the total 97.5 million votes.

David Cook will release an album later this year, but first he will go on American Idol’s tour, together with the other eleven contestants of the seventh season.

The tour will start on July 1st at jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ and it will end on September 13, at BOK Center in Tulsa, OK.

During the interviews given after he won the “American Idol”, David Cook described his upcoming album as a “rock record”.

“Even if it doesn't do well commercially, as long as I can put out a record I am proud of -- that's the goal right now,” Cook said.
