Denise Richards is apparently never at a loss for words when it comes to her failed marriage to actor Charlie Sheen and an appearance on the “Today” show and another on Larry King’s were good occasions for her to elaborate (again).
Denise Richards feels misunderstood and keeps trying to show people what kind of person she really is and what her relationship with former husband Charlie Sheen is. That’s why “Denise Richards: It’s Complicated” debuts May 26 on E!.
While on the “Today” show Tuesday, Richards discussed with host Matt Lauer mostly about an e-mail she presumably sent her ex-husband’s fiancée. The 36-year-old actress said the e-mail was “not legitimate,” a “doctored” message that made no sense.
She supposedly requested Sheen’s sperm in the note, so she could have children on her own but Richards told Lauer she was troubled at the time by her late mother’s cancer and was not thinking about having more babies.
“If I wanted anybody’s sperm, I’d have asked for Richie’s,” she added, referring to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, whom she was dating at the time.
Sheen’s response was prompt. He issued a statement denying his former wife’s allegations and accusing her of dragging on their divorce proceedings and dirty laundry for an unnecessary period of time.
The latest spat between the former spouses is the inclusion of their young daughters, aged 4 and 3, in Richards’ upcoming reality show.
The following day, the actress told Larry King that Sheen had initially agreed to have the girls in the show and then had a change of heart.
