Authorities confirmed that a 3-year-old who had disappeared from a Smithfield flea market on Sunday was found unharmed Tuesday.
The boy got separated from his mother, while she was loading groceries in her car on Sunday.
Now the Amber alert is nor longer active. Police did not reveal details about where they located Siraj Munir Davenport, also known as Roji.
The boy’s mother, Rosa, who was not a suspect in the Roji’s disappearance, talked with local and federal investigators all day long Monday. The boy’s father was reportedly out of the country at the time.
It is not yet known whether Roji simply got lost or was lured away from his mother and abducted. Police are to hold a news conference at 11 a.m.
The boy was missing for 36 hours, during which police conducted an intense search.
The Johnston County Sheriff's Office participated in the search, offering a motor boat to be driven down the Neuse River that flows near the flea market, in order to look for Roji.
On Monday, as the search was extending, the FBI also offered to help.
Police eventually canceled the Amber Alert at 12.30 a.m. Tuesday.
