This is the second divorce for Sutherland, who was previously married for three years to actress Camelia Kath, with whom he has a daughter.

The actor is well known for his role as counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer in television series “24,” a portrayal which has earned him several awards, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe for Best Actor.

Fox announced last week that the seventh season of the real-time drama series would be heralded in November by a two-hour prequel. Production was suspended last winter due to the Hollywood writers’ strike.

While the strike unfolded, Sutherland served 48 days in a Glendale jail for a second DUI conviction and for violating probation. He was sentenced to 18 days behind bars for violating his 2004 DUI conviction and another 30 days for the second DUI.

He spent the winter holidays as well as his birthday in the facility.

Kiefer Sutherland is the son of Canadian actors Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas.
