Charles Barkley Sued by Las Vegas Casino over Gambling Debt
Charles Barkley, the retired professional basketball player, was sued by Wynn Las Vegas claiming that the former NBA star player owes the casino about $400,000 in gambling markers.

"We're in the process of sending Mr. Barkley notice that we're considering filing a criminal complaint," said Clark County District Attorney David Roger. He added that “Sir Charles” will have the “opportunity” to make restitution to the hotel like anybody else.

The stylish Las Vegas casino claims in the complaint filed in Nevada state court that the NBA star didn’t repay $100,000 casino markers, or loans, he received last Oct. 18 and 19.

"To date, and despite repeated demands, Barkley has refused to repay the $400,000," the complaint said.

Barkley, who currently works as a basketball analyst for Turner Network Television, has had some problems with gambling over the past few years. However, he hasn’t made a secret of it.

Barkley’s agent refused to comment on the matter. So did Wynn Las Vegas spokeswoman Dorothy Land, who cited ongoing litigation.

Wynn Las Vegas is reportedly getting the Clark County district attorney's bad check unit to investigate Barkley’s debt. Clark County DA David Roger says if “Sir Charles” doesn't settle his debts, he could face felony charges.

Charles Barkley made a name for himself in the NBA by playing with the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets. Actually he made several names; he was nicknamed "Sir Charles," for his aggressive and outspoken demeanor, and "The Round Mound of Rebound," for his unusual build and talent as a player.

As he established himself as one of the National Basketball Association's most dominating power forwards Barkley earned eleven NBA All-Star Game appearances and was named the All-Star MVP in 1991.

Barkley took part in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic games and won two gold medals as a member of the United States' Dream Team along Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
