Venjah Hunte, one of five suspects charged in the killing of
Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor has pleaded guilty at the charges of
second-degree murder and burglary. Hunte allegedly drove the 4 men from
According to the Associated Press, he was sentenced to 29 years in prison. His lawyer, Michael Hornung, said that his client pleaded guilty on Friday but prosecutors requested that, seeing the investigators were after the fifth suspect, the plea agreement should be sealed. Hunte agreed to testify against the other suspects, as part of the deal.
Officials managed to find that last suspect, 16-year-old Timothy Brown, and charged him on Wednesday with first-degree murder and armed burglary.
According to the Washington Post, Richard Sharpstein, a
Jason Mitchell, Eric Rivera and Charles Wardlow are the other three charged in the case. The trial is set for Aug. 25.
Sean Taylor was shot at his Miami home, during a robbery, and died a day later at Jackson Memorial Hospital of massive blood loss. Fortunately, his girlfriend and baby daughter, who were in the house at the time of the shooting, were not hurt.
