Aliph announced the release of its second version of the Jawbone Bluetooth earpiece. The Jawbone 2 is designed to eliminate most of the inconveniencies that a headset presents. No more looking funny because the Bluetooth headset you are wearing has blinking LEDs that make you look like a robot trying to make people think it is a businessman.
Jawbone 2, designed by Yves Behar, has a diamond beveled pattern that makes it look very stylish yet professional.
A big advantage of Aliph’s new headset is the size and weight of it. Measuring 2 inches long, 0.5 inches wide, and 0.5 inches thick, it is about half the size of its predecessor. It weighs about 10 grams which makes it one of the lightest earpieces on the market.
The best thing about it is the noise reduction feature dubbed “Noise Assassin.” The function works perfectly well even under extreme conditions like talking while a heavy truck passes by you. The headset has a sensor that touches the skin and is able to sense facial bones’ vibration, thus understanding which of the sounds it perceives the user’s voice is. It then filters all other sounds, thus making speaking on the Bluetooth headset a possibility even in the noisiest of the environments.
Aliph has spared no effort in gaining voice quality and has also enhanced Jawbone’s performance in windy conditions.
The only drawbacks the earpiece has are the fact that the buttons are rather hard to use and the button pressing sequence for getting a desired function is sometimes hard to remember.
The buttons are hidden under the surface of the headset which makes it difficult to tell which one is which. What is more, the Talk button is situated under the LED that shines when the power is on, so pressing it is a little difficult.
