Creative Introduces New Budget Video Camera
Even though Creative is better known for its MP3 gadgets and sound cards, the company is aiming to take market share in the field of budget video cams also. This week, the company has announced in a press release the Vado Video Pocket Cam.

The camera, allegedly dramatically smaller than the competition, is supposed to weight under 3 ounces, and to fit perfectly in your purse or pocket. As far as the features are concerned, the camera comes with a 2 inch built-in LCD color screen and can shoot films at a maximum rate of 30 frames per second at VGA resolution, comparable with what some expensive camera mobile phones can achieve. Vado has also a removable rechargeable battery that can enhance the length of shooting films to two hours, and it can be connected to the PC using an USB connector that hides when not needed.

Vado is designed for people that want to make videos of spontaneous moments and that want to have the camera ready at any time. The camera’s built in software is a confirmation of this. The videos can be just dragged and dropped to the PC once the camera is connected, but using the specific software will permit the user to upload them directly on YouTube or Photobucket.

Creative’s Vado will ship in silver and pink and will have a 2GB memory. Unfortunately there will be no expansion memory slot. The camera is priced at $99.99 and, considering the information given by the manufacturer, could pose some threats at Flip Video Ultra, its competitor.
