The action will be set in the Peruvian jungle, and the
players will have to escape reptiles, explore caves, swing on vines and solve
puzzles as they will work their way through the 60 levels of the game. As to
what lies in front of them, there will be treasures to dig, strange creatures
to battle or outwit and traps to escape.
The creators of the game think the Wii console’s motion
sensing approach is the perfect fit for this kind of game. As far as the
graphical limitations of the console are concerned, Activision and Edge of
Reality are planning to give the game a “retro-cool” vibe, as Dave Oxford,
Activision spokesman, stated cited by EuroGamer.
Pitfall has a two decade history, starting back in 1982 with
the release of the first game on an Atari 2600 console. The game’s success lead
to numerous sequels, the last of them, Pitfall: The Lost Expedition, being
designed for the top consoles of 2004: GameCube, PS2 and Xbox.
Pitfall: The Big Adventure is scheduled to be released and will be ready for shipment in fall 2008.
