The new title is created exclusively for the Wii and Nintendo DS systems and it will include support for the famous Wii Balance board, an accessory which is sold bundled with Wii Fit.
“We knew it would be an exciting challenge to bring the soul and feel of skateboarding to the Wii and Nintendo DS,” said Scott Blackwood, Executive Producer - Skate franchise.
Released in September 2007, Skate, the first game of the franchise, received the “Best Sports Game of E3 - IGN Xbox 360” award at the E3 tradeshow in Santa Monica and it was also one of only four games nominated for Best Sports game for the “Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2007”
EA noted that the gamers could use also the Wii remote to string together their best tricks for the ultimate skate line. The Wiimote becomes a skateboard and reacts to gestures that mirror actual skate flips and moves.
Skate It will ship in 2008. EA also confirmed that Skate 2, the direct sequel of Skate, is in works.
