The New BlackBerry Is Here

The new and highly anticipated BlackBerry Bold 9000 has been officially launched. The device is equipped with tri-band HSDPA and quad-band EDGE support, which will allow it to use the highest-speed GSM-family data networks available.

The detachable back will allow users to personalize their phone by buying one of the many replacement backs available in blue, brown, red, gray and green. The keyboard has also been changed a little, with its keys sculpted in order to avoid slippage.

A 2-megapixel camera with a 5X digital zoom is also among the smartphone’s features. It also includes a 1 GB on-board storage memory with an additional 128 MB Flash memory.

The BlackBerry Bold is equipped with a 624-MHz StrongARM processor with full MMX (multimedia extensions), which is the world’s most powerful CPU used on a handheld so far. The processor allows users to enjoy full-motion videos on its 480 by-320-pixel, 65,000 color display, and several demonstrations proved that video clips can be seen with an extremely sharp image.

Research in Motion is still negotiating the details for their product’s release and so far the U.S. carrier which will introduce the Bold, has not yet been announced. According to some of the company’s officials, the BlackBerry is expected to be shipped worldwide by the start of summer.

"The new BlackBerry Bold represents a tremendous step forward in business-grade smartphones and lives up to its name with incredible speed, power and functionality, all wrapped in a beautiful and confident design," said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO of Research In Motion, according to FoxBusiness.
