British singer Amy Winehouse was released on bail after being arrested and interviewed in an East London police station in connection with some alleged drug offenses, less than two weeks since being arrested for assault.
According to Winehouse's spokesman, the 24-year-old songbird was taken into custody earlier on Wednesday after she was questioned by police who saw a vided handed to them in January which allegedly shows the singer smoking crack.
"Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is co-operating fully with inquiries. The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year," her rep wasquoted by TMZ as saying.
An edited version of the video was originally posted on British tabloid The Sun's website and described how the Grammy award winner inhaled
crack cocaine, quoting her as saying she had taken six Valium pills and snorted powdered
ecstasy and cocaine. The video appeared to have been filmed
during a house party.
A statement from the police confirmed that Winehouse presented herself at the station at around 1 p.m.(1200 GMT) in order to answer questions concerning the alleged possession of a controlled drug.
On April 26, Winehouse, who was arrested for suspicion of assault after allegedly slapping a man outside a London bar, was released and given a formal warning after spending the night behind bars, because she was unfit for an interview at the time of her arrival at the station.
Moreover, it was recently reported that Winehouse's producer Mark Ronson said the singer was "not ready to record any music" which is why their work on a possible music theme for the upcoming "James Bond" movie was called off.
Earlier this year, the singer was also arrested and fined for possession of cannabis in Norway.
