A Stafford County man went berserk and not only killed his girlfriend with a assault rifle after a long argument, he also used a handgun to shoot their two young children before turning the gun to himself and commit suicide, authorities said on Tuesday.
The man’s girlfriend was identified as 23-year-old Latasha Nicole Thomas. Reports show that she called a relative for help earlier in the day, but phoned back and said things had settled down, according to Bill Kennedy, a spokesman for the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
The killer was identified as Aaron Poseidon Jackson, 24. The couple had a daughter and son.
The murdered woman had lived with the two children - 2 1/2 -year-old Nicole Aaron Jackson and 18 months-year-old Aaron Neptune Jackson – in a mobile home park for about six months, police said.
Investigators did not say whether the gunman also lived with the three in the mobile home park during that period.
The relative whom Thomas called for help eventually arrived at the mobile home park. The relative knocked at the trailer’s door but heard no answer. After finding out from a neighbor that shots had been fired about 10 minutes before her arrival, the relative called 911.
The Sheriff’s deputies answered the call and entered the trailer. Inside, they found the dead bodies of the four. The babies were still in their cribs and the other two were in the living room. Kennedy said that all the victims had been shot in the head and investigators managed to find the weapons of the crime.
The two children were taken to the hospital, but doctors couldn’t save their lives, Kennedy added according to The Associated Press.
