The Boston Celtics managed to get their act together and won the series’ game seven against the Atlanta Hawks.
The game ended 99 – 65 for Boston, after leading the game from start to finnish. Kevin Garnett scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds, Paul Pierce had 22 points, Rajon Rondo scored 10 and dished 6 assists, Kendrick Perkins also had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ray Allen had only seven points in the game but the rest of the team clearly made up for that.
The Hawks seemed unable to get into their recently-found sensational game groove, with only one player, Joe Johnson, stepping over the 15 point mark; he had 16 points in the game. Josh Smith had only 7 points and Mike Bibby just 2 points and 2 assists.
As the game was coming to an end, the whole crowd gathered in Boston’s arena started yelling ”We want Cleveland!” displaying a great amount of enthusiasm for the upcoming conference semi-final.
The series between the Celtics and the Hawks began on April, 20 and as the games got rougher, the more attention it received. Atlanta’s efforts came as a big surprise because most NBA fans thought that Atlanta’s players were far to young and inexperienced to offer a worthy competition.
The Celtics have two more days to prepare for their first encounter with LeBron James and his Cavaliers in the Eastern Semi-Final series.
The New Orleans Hornets also won yesterday. They now have a 1 – 0 lead against the powerful San Antonio Spurs in their Western Semi-Final.
