Adding to the list of cancellations, Canadian singer Avril Lavigne was forced to scrap more tour dates from the West Coast due to acute laryngitis.
While attendance to her concerts has been rather poor, the punk princess' condition isn't helping either; the artist claimed recently, two months into her five-month tour, that she has been sick all this time.
After pulling out from her San Diego and Phoenix gigs just hours before she was scheduled to go on stage, the singer announced the cancellation of six more, also issuing an apology.
"My sincerest apologies to all of my fans," the singer said in a statement released Saturday. "My intention was to complete the rest of the tour, but tonight at sound check in Anaheim I realized this wasn’t possible."
The mother of one angry fan told WENN that "Most of Avril's fans are young girls, who had to travel quite a distance to get to the show. With gas prices what they are, you would have thought that someone would have alerted the local media and radio stations, so that everyone knew the concert was canceled."
The 23-year-old's statement went on explaining that she tried resting her voice "for days" but it didn't help: "When I tried to sing, nothing came out."
Shows in Anaheim, Universal City, Santa Barbara, San Jose - all in California - and Spokane and Everett in Washington have been postponed already.
"I have never cancelled a show in my whole career and just had to for the first time ever. This sux!" Lavigne wrote on her website.
According to reps for the singer, refunds will be available at point of purchase on Monday.
