Police arrested former NBA superstar Dennis Rodman on Wednesday night for alleged domestic violence, officials confirmed today.
The former team mate of Michael Jordan at the Chicago Bulls was put under arrest at about 10:15 p.m. in Century City at a hotel in the 2100 block of Avenue of the Stars.
According to Richard French, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department, Rodman had hit a woman causing her injuries to the arms. Police officers answered a report of a domestic dispute.
The 46-year-old five time NBA Champion was imprisoned at the Van Nuys jail at 2:50 a.m. today to be investigated of felony domestic violence. Rodman was freed on $50,000 bail a few hours later.
When asked about Rodman’s violent behavior, his manager Steve Simon said his client is struggling after a recent divorce and he is a bit nervous because he hasn’t been able to see his children.
"He's been really heartbroken about it, and it hasn't been a great time for him," said Simon.
According to his manager, Rodman was involved in an altercation with the woman at the hotel and left her with a bruise.
"I'm kind of waiting for the facts to unfold because it's really uncharacteristic for him," Simon added.
Dennis Rodman became a celebrity by wining the NBA championship first with the Detroit Pistons and then with the Chicago Bulls. However, he was also very well known for his off-court life.
In early 2003, he was arrested for hitting his then-fiancée on her lip at their home in Newport Beach in Southern California's Orange County. His ex-wife Michelle Moyer also said that the main cause why she divorced Rodman was his history of domestic violence.
