Brooke White Voted Off American Idol

It seems Nanny Brooke and Neil Diamond songs just didn’t match. Brooke White’s performance of “I Am…I Said” couldn’t make up for her nightmarish rendition of “I’m a Believer” and she was voted out.

The 24-year-old couldn’t hold back her tears while she was singing her last song.

"I just want to say thank you," White said. "This is going to be terrible for me right now."

On Tuesday’s show, Simon Cowell harshly criticized her performance of „I’m a Believer,” describing it as a nightmare, but he praised her second song. Known as a lyrics forgetter, Brooke decided to write some difficult lyrics of „I Am...I Said” on her palm, but no one commented on that.

"This is the Brooke we like. Sitting behind the piano, singing a very good song," Simon said Tuesday, referring to Brooke’s second performance. "It wasn't incredible, but it was a million times better than the first song. Well done."

After the voting’s results were announced, the remaining Idol contestants, including Syesha Mercado who was also in the bottom two, surrounded Brooke and tried to comfort her.

Earlier in the show, Ryan Seacrest took a moment to address the rumors that spread on the Internet following Paula Abdul’s gaffe on Tuesday. Paula had amazed the audience the other night, when she criticized both of Jason Castro’s songs, after he had only sung one of them.

"Last night the judges were thrown a curve ball...It sparked a lot of gossip about Paula, and I read some of this online this morning." Seacrest said. "And just for the record, the rumors, they're not true. She's part of our family and we love her."

However, he did not specify exactly what the rumors said.

Wednesday’s show also included a performance of "Pocketful of Sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield and „Pretty Amazing Grace” by Neil Diamond.

Another special moment on the show was the call from a British woman who had kissed Simon Cowell when he was nine. Everyone was able to see a softer side of Simon, as he discussed childhood memories with the one who had given him his first kiss.
