It appears that Hillary Duff just might be the new face of “Beverly Hills 90210,” according to sources linked to the series, E! Online reports. The contemporary series of the hit 1990s TV show was commissioned by U.S. network CW. The original show ran for 10 years from 1990 to 2000 and starred Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling.
Producers are said to be courting 20-year-old Hillary Duff to take on one of the leading roles in the updated version. Although there has been no confirmation from Hilary's rep or the CW, it is believed that she would play “Annie Mills”, a Beverly Hills High student who is into theater acting.
Hillary Duff gained fame due to hit Disney TV show “Lizzie Maguire” before launching a successful music and film career. She released three RIAA certified-platinum albums and had over thirteen million albums sold worldwide. Duff’s first studio album, “Metamorphosis”(2003), was certified triple platinum and she followed it up with two more platinum albums, “Hilary Duff” (2004) and “Most Wanted” (2005). Hillary Duff's latest studio album, “Dignity, was released in April 2007 and was certified Gold in August 2007.
On September 7, 2007, Duff confirmed on Much On Demand, that she would be filming two independent movies “Greta”, and “Safety Glass”. Both films were shot in late 2007 and are due to be released in late 2008 or early 2009.
