Connor Cruise in Daddy's Cinematic Footsteps

The middle child of Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise, 13-year-old Connor, will make his film debut in the upcoming Will Smith drama “Seven Pounds,” according to media reports.

Connor Cruise, the youngest child of former Hollywood spouses Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, will follow his parents’ example by appearing on the big screen. A very small role to begin with, but who knows what will follow?

People magazine was first to report on its website that the famous child would portray a young version of Will Smith’s character in “a very minor role.” People added that Connor auditioned for the role just like any other actor, despite his stellar parentage.

“Tom is so proud of Connor,” an unnamed source told the magazine. “He's proud of him for really doing this on his own.”

The Columbia Pictures film, which is still in production, also costars Woody Harrelson and Rosario Dawson.

Cruise and Kidman married on Christmas Eve in 1990 and soon became one of Hollywood’s power couples. The adopted daughter Isabella two years later and Connor in 1995. The couple divorced after 10 years of marriage.

Tom subsequently married Katie Holmes, with whom he has daughter Suri, who recently celebrated her second anniversary. Kidman married country singer Keith Urban, with whom she is expecting her first biological child.

In February, when the Academy Award-winning actress’ children’s film “The Golden Compass” premiered, Kidman said she felt the need to make movies that her children could enjoy as well.

“I think once you have children, you want to balance the work you do,” the 40-year-old actress said at the time, as quoted by Reuters. “Occasionally you want to make films that they can take their friends to, [that] they can go to the premiere of, that they celebrate.”

Kidman said her two children had indeed enjoyed “Compass,” while her yet unborn baby would have to wait a while before being able to appreciate it.

“My Bella and Connor are 13 and 15, so they have seen the film,” she said. “And they loved it. My child inside won't see the film for a long time.”
