Ten people from a
Largo Fire Rescue personnel responded to Grand Villa, an assisted
living facility at 750 Starkey Road in Largo at 7.45 a.m. Residents in the
center’s Alzheimer’s wing were complaining of flu like symptoms including
nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. There were 20 patients in that section of the
facility.

Following the incident, officials called in hazardous materials
teams from
Brian Brady, Largo Fire Rescue district chief said a viral
infection could have caused the people to become sick.
Health department inspectors were expected today to tour the facility and see if they could figure out what made people there sick.
