Shia LaBeouf’s Problem That Won’t Puff Away

“Transformers” star Shia LaBeouf is in trouble with the law: he was cited last month for unlawful smoking but failed to appear in court at the scheduled date and now a $1,000 bench warrant has been issued.

A $1,000 bench warrant was issued for actor Shia LaBeouf on Tuesday, March 18, after the 21-year-old failed to appear in court on a charge of unlawful smoking, CelebTV.com reports.

The young star of last summer’s blockbuster “Transformers” was cited last month, on Feb. 18, for unlawful smoking, according to the warrant, while in Los Angeles.

The court issued a warrant after the actor failed to appear at Burbank Courthouse for an 8:00 a.m. arraignment Tuesday or have an attorney appear on his behalf, CelebTV.com adds.

LaBeouf has been naughty before. In November 2007, the young actor was arrested on a misdemeanor criminal trespassing charge, after failing to leave a Chicago drugstore at the security guard’s request.

Although the security guard told the police he thought LaBeouf was drunk, the arresting officers were pleased with the young man’s conduct and noted that he was “very courteous and polite.”

The charge was ultimately dropped, as the Walgreens store where the incident occurred did not wish to pursue the matter.

By Hollywood standards, LaBeouf is still squeaky clean and has a good reputation as a serious actor. Last year, he starred in the teen thriller “Disturbia,” alongside Carrie-Anne Moss, David Morse and Sarah Roemer, which opened at No. 1 in the North American box office.

He also appeared in “Transformers,” based on the Transformers franchise, alongside Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, and Jon Voight.

The young actor, who came to fame on the Disney Channel’s “Even Stevens,” next appears in the fourth Indiana Jones installment, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” starring Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford as archeologist Indiana Jones.
