Miley Ray Cyrus Makes Her Name Legal
Already known to her friends, family and fans as Miley Cyrus, 15-year-old pop sensation Destiny Hope Cyrus filed the needed legal documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court to have her name changed.

According to celebrity gossip website TMZ.com, the papers requesting the legal change "to make her commonly used name the same as her legal name," were filed by the young singer's parents Leticia and country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus, 46.

It was initially reported that the "Hannah Montana" star had her name changed to Miley Cyrus in January, when she explained that as a child she used to be called "Smiley" because she smiled a lot. From here it turned to "Miley" and that’s how her family and friends is calling her.

The starlet will be able to finally use her "commonly used name" in official situations after publishing a note of the name change.

Miley Cyrus rose to fame after staring in Disney Channel's original series, "Hannah Montana," where she plays Miley Stewart, a high school girl who transforms on weekends in Hannah Montana, a pop diva. The show premiered on March 24, 2006 and two years later it was broadcasted in almost every continent of the world.

A movie based on the series, starring both Miley and her father, called "The Hannah Montana Movie" is set to begin production in the spring. The two already appeared in the box office-topping 3D concert film "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour," which contains footage from Miley's hit cross-country concert tour by the same name.

Her album "Hannah Montana" made millions and sold over 3.2 million copies in the United States and more than 4 million worldwide.

The father-and-daughter team is also set to host the Country Music Television Awards ceremony at Nashvilles’s Belmont University on April 14.
