Halle Berry's Extended Family Happy with New Member

Halle Berry and boyfriend Gabriel Aubry welcomed their first child, a daughter, Sunday, March 16. Aubry’s family is over the moon with the new member joining the clan, People magazine reports.

Academy Award winner Halle Berry gave birth to her first child Sunday and her rep confirmed to People magazine that the new mother “is doing great.” Berry and Gabriel Aubry, her baby’s father, had been more than willing to share their joy of impending parenthood.

Berry confessed she loved being pregnant more than anything else in the world and declared that even morning sickness was bearable, as it was a part of the process. She even went as far as saying that she wanted to be pregnant forever.

Aubry expressed himself with no lesser enthusiasm, telling Extra last fall that he had been “in preparation mode” for fatherhood for a while and that he had been studying parenting books.

The Canadian-born model’s family is overjoyed with the baby girl’s coming. Aubry’s older sister, Eugenie Aubry, told People that having a new baby in the family is “exciting.”

“I was so happy when I found out,” the 36-year-old sibling said. “It's been a long time since we've had a new baby in the family. It's very exciting.”

Eugenie, who lives in Montreal, Quebec, also told the magazine that she was pleased Berry had been learning French and said she looked forward to meeting her niece. “I'm a Quebecer, and it's great that she is learning how to speak French,” Eugenie said. “I'm glad that the little one will speak French, too.”

Eugenie added that her father is very happy to have a granddaughter and that the whole family is looking forward to a reunion in Montreal.

Berry, 41, and Aubry, 32, met while shooting a Versace ad in Los Angeles two years ago. At the time, the actress was still recovering from a failed marriage. While on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show last year she had almost lost hope when he appeared in her life. She also said they plan to have more children after their first.
