Ailing Van Halen Postpones More Concerts

Rock band Van Halen is postponing even more shows of its reunion tour due to guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s mysterious health sufferings, it was announced Monday.

The four members of reunited ‘80s band Van Halen were quick to reassure fans last week that US concert dates would only be postponed, not cancelled, as 53-year-old guitarist Eddie Van Halen required medical testing for an unspecified condition.

Concert promoter Live Nation quoted Eddie’s physician at the time, who said of the rocker that “he is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures.”

Concerts in Dallas, Texas; Cincinnati, Ohio; Baltimore, Maryland; and Raleigh, North Carolina were reprogrammed for Apr. 24, Apr. 22, Apr. 13 and Apr. 15, respectively, with tickets for the canceled dates remaining valid for the rescheduled dates.

One week after that sad yet simultaneously encouraging announcement, Van Halen brings forth a similar one. All shows through April 19 are to be postponed while Eddie receives medical care, Billboard.com reports.

Seventeen shows are now affected, beginning Tuesday, March 11, in Charlottesville, Va., and running through April 15 in Baltimore, which was one of the four postponed last week. The next scheduled show is set for April 19 in Las Vegas.

Organizers said the guitarist and founding member of Van Halen “is currently under doctors’ care” and will “continue medical tests to define a course of treatment.” No further details were made available.

Tickets once again remain valid for rescheduled dates which remain to be announced.

The band’s reunion has been a reason for happiness for many fans, who more than demonstrated this through sell-out shows and enthusiastic attendance. Brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen are joined by original lead singer David lee Roth for the first time in more than 20 years. Eddie’s teenage son Wolfgang plays bass, thus replacing co-founder Michael Anthony.
