Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline and the singer's father Jamie Spears, who were spotted playing golf in Tarzana, Calif., over the weekend, got together again for a court hearing Monday morning.
As the ugly custody battle between Spears and Federline keeps dragging on, Jamie and K-Fed attended a hearing over the legal bills Britney was ordered to pay for both sides during the very public dispute.
Federline, who currently has sole custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James, was spotted chatting with Jamie before the hearing, presided by Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, started.
According to court officials, Britney's dad complained that Federline's attorney, Marc Vincent Kaplan, overcharged the pop star.
Sources claim that the singer's new custody attorney, Stacy Phillips, was expected to dispute a $500,000 tab from Kaplan – which Britney was ordered by the court to pay – as well as a $600,000 bill from the law firm of Trope & Trope, who handled her custody case until last week.
Another hearing regarding Jamie's conservatorship over his daughter's affairs was scheduled for Monday afternoon.
Last week, a judge ordered Spears to pay her father $2,500 in weekly compensation for watching over her and her estate, after extending the temporary conservatorship until the end of July out of concern that an attorney claiming to represent the pop star might again tie the case up in federal court.
According to sources, the judge might decide to dissolve the conservatorship before July 31, if Britney's mental health is reestablished. "Is it possible she might make significant enough progress to get her life back in three or four months? Yes, and her dad would like nothing more."
In February, the court placed Britney's assets under the conservatorship of her father after she was hospitalized twice in January for psychiatric evaluation. The conservatorship was supposed to expire on March 10.
