After ABC announced last week its renewals, it was CW’s time on Monday to announce its series which will come back this fall.
The net said that there will be six series, four dramas, one comedy and one original reality show, that will come back.
In fall
Gossip Girl will return for the second season, without Mischa Barton. The teen drama has managed to gather a young fan base in its first season, with almost blockbuster ratings. It had an average of 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers.
One Tree Hill will be back for the sixth season.
It was easy to tell what will be the first picks for the CW
as ANTM, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill are the best ranked shows of the network
among its targeted 18-34-year-old female demographic.
Smallville and Supernatural are also back on Thursday nights
for the an eighth and fourth season this fall.
From the comedies only Chris Rock's critical hit Everybody
Hates Chris remained standing for its fourth year. Today the show received the
news that the rights for the series were bought for the cable channel Nick at
Nite. The show will air from September 2009.
The CW announced that it will eliminate the comedy department with just one comedy renewed for next year.
Aliens
in
WWE's Smackdown and the Girlfriends were canceled despite of the high ratings.
