Britney Spears saw her two young boys for the first time in some seven weeks this Saturday, allegedly thanks to Grandpa Jamie Spears taking charge of the situation.
It was only a few days ago that Mark Vincent Kaplan, attorney for Britney Spears’ former husband, told People magazine that Jamie Spears’ presence in the singer’s life has a beneficial stabilizing effect on her life that could even lead to her regaining visitation rights.
“Whirlwind,” “chaotic,” “bizarre” and “unpredictable” are all words that have been frequently associated with Britney Spears over the past year and a half. More so over the past two months, with all-time peaks being her Jan. 3 standoff with police and subsequent hospitalization, and her second hospitalization that same month.
Britney was supposed to hand sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to ex-hubby Kevin Federline on Jan. 3, as previously agreed through their lawyers – and then she wouldn’t. The whole situation degenerated into chaos, with the 26-year-old mother being taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and placed on psychiatric hold.
Britney was stripped of her visitation rights following the Jan. 3 mayhem and was not allowed to see her sons until this Saturday, when lawyers for her and Federline worked out a visitation schedule.
She is still under the care of father Jamie Spears, who was named co-conservator of her estate during her second hospitalization in late January.
People magazine reports that Britney spent some three hours with Preston and Jayden this weekend, in the presence of her father and a psychiatrist who made sure that things went on smoothly.
Someone close to Saturday’s goings-on told the magazine that Britney’s life is changing for the better thanks to her dad. “The real hero was Jamie. He has taken charge, and she has visitation again,” the unnamed source said.
Kaplan told the same magazine last week that Papa Spears’ presence in Britney’s life is “an extreme positive” and that it could make it possible “to develop a visitation plan that enables these children to have a mother in their lives.”
