Uno is a 3-year-old beagle from Illinois. The Westminster judges associated the winner with the ancient dogs, famous for their long ears and their nose. Beagles are often preferred by hunters. Moreover this breed is also famous from Shakespeare’s writings that characterized them as a loyal species.

David Frei, the dog expert and announcer for USA Network’s coverage of Westminster said before Uno won: "If he won, it would be the greatest thing for our show."
