Lily Allen Suffers Unfortunate Miscarriage
British singer Lily Allen suffered a miscarriage earlier this week, leaving her and boyfriend Ed Simons “in a state of shock,” according to media reports.

British paper “The Sun” reports on its website that the young singer and her boyfriend of four months had just returned home from a romantic holiday in the Maldives when Lily suffered the miscarriage.

The couple was being comforted by family and friends last night, according to The Sun. A source close to the singer told the paper: “They are in a state of shock. The bad news has been really difficult for them to take and they are absolutely heartbroken.”

The unnamed person goes on to say how pregnancy had begun to change the 22-year-old singer’s life. “Lily’s entire outlook on life changed after she found out she was pregnant. She was looking forward to being a mum and starting a family with Ed. She had turned her back on her party girl image and had turned over a new leaf.”

Lily was hugely successful in summer 2006 when her first single “Smile,” from her debut album “Alright Still,” topped the charts and became an instant hit. She soon made a name for herself as a talented, spontaneous and provocative young girl who is not afraid to speak her mind and criticize anyone and anything she deems worth criticizing.

She was also frequently photographed drinking (a lot of the time on stage while performing) and smoking, just as fellow British singer Amy Winehouse.

When The Sun was first to reveal Lily’s pregnancy in December, things appeared to be changing. She and boyfriend Ed Simons, 37, of electronic duo The Chemical Brothers, were reportedly wildly in love and ecstatic to have a baby.

Lily even exchanged her frequently harsh words with comments on how she wishes to settle down and enjoy a comfortable family life.

“I’ve looked forward to being stable my whole life,” she said. “My parents are amazing, but it has been a whirlwind upbringing. I have got my eye on the prize, which is having kids and getting married and cooking dinner and doing homework with my children.”

Lily is the daughter of comedian Keith Allen.

Her spokesman said: “We can confirm that Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage. She and her partner Ed Simons will be making no further comment and we ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”
