Federal Court Unveils More Compromising E-mails In DA’s Case

The story of the love e-mails the Harris County District Attorney Charles A. Rosenthal Jr. sent to his secretary Kerry Stevens already put a mark of his political career, as his party leaders forced him to retire from the race for a third term position. But things did not stop here. A federal court approved on Monday the public release of several other materials that have been found in his e-mails, which include racist remarks and jokes, as well as pornographic material.

Charles A. Rosenthal, who has been a prosecutor for 30 years, was not available for comments on the new allegations, so no one really knows what the DA stands for at the moment. However, the real issue here is not whether he had an affair with his secretary or not, but rather what kind of a prosecutor he’s been during his long time career, as an e-mail containing discussions on modifying a criminal record in order to help his son, who is a lawyer, win a case was also made public on Monday.

Mr. Rosenthal had been planning for some time now to run for re-elections as a district attorney, but his plans have been overturned by his Republican Party leaders, who announced last Wednesday that his name was no longer on the list after a political meeting at the party’s headquarters in Houston, and the reason for that was that his reputation had been compromised. Rosenthal refused to discuss the announcement.

When the love scandal between Rosenthal, who is at his second marriage, and his secretary, whom he had an affair with during his first marriage, was made public, the only thing he could be accused of was his morality, but it appears not to be the case anymore, as everyone awaits further investigations to unveil more on the Harris County DA deeds. He is currently involved in a civil right lawsuit, where he is accused of trying to cover for several sheriff deputies who have been caught on tape while abusing a family during a search warrant execution.
