Iowa Man Stuck in Septic Tank on Christmas Eve

No matter how bad Christmas might have been for some of us, for Robert Schoff it was the worst smelly Christmas ever. No one can envy him for the place where he spent part of it.

The 77-year-old man from Des Moines, Iowa spent part of Christmas Eve stuck upside down in the opening of his septic tank, with his head inside and his feet kicking in the air above. Trying to remove the clog, the man lost his balance and fell into the slop. Realizing he had no chance to set himself free, he desperately cried aloud for help, but no one heard him.

Fortunately, his wife began to wonder where his husband might be, so she found him on the septic tank. The ugly problem was that neither her was capable to help him win his freedom. As a last option, she called 911 and fire officials arrived immediately and escaped him from the smelly predicament.

“How that happened, I don't know. I thought it was the end of my life. Thank God my wife saw me. I don’t think I could have stood much more. It wasn't good, I'll tell you what. It was the worst Christmas Eve I've ever had,” Schoff said Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

The man was not injured in his unfortunate accident, according to firefighter Matt MsBride who also made a joke on the unusual event.

“Not where you want to be on Christmas Eve,” he told to the local television.
