25-year-old Jennifer Cannon from Lexington, Kentucky, and Doy Nichols married in a public restroom in Times Square on Dec. 19. If you think the location was unusual, the wedding gown was even stranger: the caps sleeves dress, with a sweetheart neckline and a bow in the back were part of designer Hanah Kim’s dress, who was the winner of the 2007 Toilet Paper Wedding Dress competition.
The ceremony was held in a luxurious restroom in Times Square, named “The Charmin Restrooms”, and everything was payed for, from the ceremony and honeymoon package to the airplane tickets and hotel room, by the Cincinnati-based P&G.
The designer used for the unusual dress Charmin Ultra Soft and Charmin Ultra Long. The couple, for the first time in New York, was very excited about the idea. The groom, Doy Nicholas, said that he searched the internet to see how the dress looked like, and he thought it was beautiful.
Unlike his bride, the groom wore a more traditional vest and tie, not wanting to draw too much attention from his bride-to-be.
At the end of the ceremony, the officiant asked Doy to kiss the bride, but said, according to Reuters: “please don’t squeeze the Charmin dress.”
No matter how emotional the wedding would have turned out to be, finding a tissue couldn’t have been a problem.
