The spiritual wounds caused by the massacre at Virginia Tech, when Seung Hui Cho committed suicide after killing 32 people, have not begin to heal yet, but this didn’t stop two Penn State students to dress up as victims of the horrific incident. They posted a number of photos on Facebook, in which they were shown with fake blood and bullet wounds.

“It’s not that it was funny. It’s that we are notorious and
infamous and very popular in the state college, so we have to do things that
push the envelope just for shock value”, the student said in an interview for
WSLS-TV. He also implied that the public display of grief shown by Virginia
Tech’s students almost a year after this massacre took place wasn’t even that
real: “This is a group of college students who now think it’s trendy to be
upset about their friends being killer” the student said in the WSLS-TV
interview.
In a letter send to Virginia Tech,
According to the Center Daily Times newspaper, Lisa Powers,
spokesman for Penn State, stated that the students have been identified, but
they will not be held responsible for their actions, as this would mean
violating their rights to free-speech granted by the First Amendment.
However, if no disciplinary measures have been taken against the students’ actions, the public opinion highly condemns their indifference and lack of decency and solidarity with the families and friends of the 32 victims.
