Well-Behaved Foxy Brown No Longer In Solitary Confinement
Hot-tempered BlackBerry-throwing Foxy Brown has been released from solitary confinement halfway through her term, due to good behavior.

Foxy Brown, who has been sentenced to 1 year behind bars for violating her probation, was sentenced to punitive segregation on Oct. 16 for allegedly misbehaving (i.e. shoving another prisoner at Rikers Island jail), being verbally abusive to guards and refusing to take a drug test.

Foxy, real name Inga Marchand, who has been in jail since August 22, she was sentenced to 76 days in solitary confinement. This meant she was isolated for up to 23 hours a day; the remaining hour she was allowed to spend meeting with her attorney and other visitors, exercising or visiting the jail’s library.

At the time, a spokesman for the New York City Department of Correction said that the female prisoner Foxy had had the shoving match with was sentenced to 11 days of solitary confinement.

After 40 days of solitary confinement, the 28-year-old rapper has become a member of the general prison population once more. She is kept under protective custody due to her high profile, according to media reports.

Foxy’s manager, Chaz Williams, told Billboard.com: “Foxy is out and her spirits never wavered. While in solitary, she continued to answer each and every fan letter. She also told me she wrote some pretty hot songs while there. She's back in the law library and looks forward to ending this chapter in her life.”

Foxy was sentenced to one year of jail in September for violating her probation after several arrests. The final incidents that determined a Manhattan judge to send her behind bars were attacking a woman with her BlackBerry and driving out of state without permission.

In 2004, the rapper attacked two employees at a nail salon, apparently over the fee. At the time, she was sentenced to three years probation and anger management classes. Earlier this year, the rapper violated her probation when she threw hair glue at an employer in a beauty salon. She allegedly failed to attend anger-management classes.

The BlackBerry incident occurred earlier this year; in July, the victim, a female neighbor of Foxy’s, filed a complaint against the singer, claiming the attack caused a black eye, a swollen lip and loose teeth.

Foxy appeared stoic when her sentence was pronounced. “This is just a temporary situation,” she said in a statement. “I made my bed and have no problem lying in it. My will is steady. What doesn't kill me will only make me stronger.”
