Doritos Dash of Destruction proves that there is a strong connection between Doritos and video games. This title was chosen the winner of the Doritos Unlock Xbox Contest, the competition sponsored by the popular tortilla chips maker that challenged people to create a brand new video game with Xbox Live Arcade potential.
Between late October and November 18, people had the chance to play beta versions of the games that had entered the final stage of the competition and then to vote for the one they liked best. And although eating Doritos and playing the games’ beta versions sounds a little bit silly, it seems that the competition was a tough one: the winning game was to have a full version developed for Xbox Live Arcade.
Doritos Dash of Destruction’s idea is simple, as the game features only two characters: a hungry T-Rex dinosaur and a fast moving truck carrying tons of Doritos. While the dinosaur’s goal is to eat the Doritos truck, the truck will just try to reach the safety of a tunnel from the other end of the map. The player could be either the hungry T-Rex, or the Doritos truck’s driver.
Doritos Dash of Destruction was developed by a medical software programmer, Mike Borland, who will now see his game remade and then published for Xbox Live Arcade in the coming months. Borland and all the other four finalists of the competition won also a trip to Microsoft, a plasma TV, an Xbox 360 Elite and ten games.
The other four finalists of the
