The entertainer’s 16-year-old son, Michael Osmond, checked into rehab last week for unspecified reasons, Entertainment Tonight reported
The latest strike to hit the 48-year-old "Dancing with the Stars" contestant was announced in a statement issued through her publicist, Marleah Leslie, in which she reveals that one of eight children is seeking treatment to help him deal with his problems.
"My son Michael is an amazing young man shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother I couldn't be more proud of him. The press and public has always been kind and gracious in the past and I know they will continue to respect our privacy during this time."
While a guest on CNN’s "Larry King Live," Osmond who lost her father last week, said her son, who is "the most amazing kid," was put into rehab.
"It's been a hard week," she told King.
Osmond’s brother, Jimmy, also confirmed the news to Access Hollywood.
Jimmy told Access that his nephew Michael is a "sweet little boy," who is "suffering from some issues." Jimmy further noted that when one has a family as large as the Osmonds, "you’re going to deal with every issue on the planet."
Michael is one of Osmond’s eight children, five of which are adopted and three from her previous two marriages. Earlier this year, Osmond announced that she and her second husband, Brian Blosil, were getting a divorce.
Returning on ABC’s "Dancing with the Stars" on Monday, after spending her past week in Utah to be with her family following the death of 90-year-old family patriarch George, Osmond said she had a rough week, and not only because of her father’s death.
"You would probably gasp if you knew. Not only with my dad, but with personal things going on. I'm very tired and I'm grateful that this week is done," she said.
