Dennis Quaid Welcomes Baby Boy and Girl
Actor Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberly became the proud parents of twins Thursday, welcoming son Thomas Boone Quaid and daughter Zoe Grace Quaid.

Thomas Boone was born at 8:26 a.m. and weighed 6 lb. 12 oz., while Zoe Grace came two minutes later and weighed 5 lb. 9 oz., a representative for the couple told People.com.

The Quaids said in a statement: “God has definitely blessed us.”

The babies were born through a surrogate mother, but they are the biological children of Dennis, 53, and Kimberly, 35. The gestational carrier brought the couple’s babies, conceived by the parents' own egg and sperm, to term.

When the actor first announced the pregnancy in May, he told People magazine: “We are both so thrilled and excited. This is something we've wanted for some time.”

Dennis and Kimberly, a real estate agent, learned their children's sexes in June, proudly declaring “we've seen pictures of them.”

The actor was hosting an Austin charity event Saturday when he revealed to the guests: “We finally know the sexes of these sweet little children coming into the world - we've seen pictures of them. One of them was a boy and one of them was a girl.”

Quaid and Kimberly married in 2004. According to media reports, the two met in Austin, Texas, where Dennis was performing with his band, The Sharks.

The actor, known for his roles in “The Parent Trap,” “Far from Heaven,” “Cold Creek Manor,” “Yours, Mine and Ours” and “Flight of the Phoenix,” has been married before, to actress Meg Ryan from 1991 to 2001. They have one teenage son together, Jack Henry.

Dennis is the younger brother of Academy Award-nominated actor Randy Quaid.
