Ozzy Osbourne’s Name Used By Police To Set Up Sting
Who said a little trick doesn’t help sometimes? Cass County Sheriff Paul D. Laney had a great idea when making up a fake company, named PDL Productions and sent over 40 invitations for a “pre-concert party” of the celebrity British rocker Ozzy Osbourne, who announced his presence at Rushmore Plaza Center on Tuesday. The invitations were specially addressed to people who had arrest warrants.

After the event, Laney held a televised press to congratulate himself about his idea.

"Why did we do this? The criminals are creative, so we had to get creative too. They give us fake addresses, fake phone numbers, sometimes their families cover for them, and sometimes their employees cover for them," he said

The 58-year-old rocker Osbourne is not honored by the sheriff’s idea to use his name in order to catch the criminals. In a statement released yesterday, he said:

“This sheriff should be ashamed of himself for using my celebrity to arrest these criminals. It’s insulting to me and to my audience…My audiences are good, hard-working people who have been hugely supportive of my music for nearly four decades. They have also been very supportive of my wife Sharon's colon cancer charity by raising over a million dollars (partly through VIP ticket sales) at my shows. Instead of holding a press conference to pat himself on the back, Sheriff Laney should be apologizing to me for using my name in connection with these arrests. If Sheriff Laney uses my name again I’ll bite his (expletive) head off, “ Ozzy said in a statement.

One thing is clear: 36 arrests were made and 46 warrants were served at this fake party, most of them for misdemeanor and minor felonies, Laney sustained at that conference.
