Michael Lohan’s much anticipated reunion with his estranged daughter finally happened in the confinement of the rehabilitation clinic where Lindsay Lohan has been recovering over the last several weeks.
Putting aside all their differences, Lindsay and her father faced each other for the first time on September 5 since Michael was released from jail in March this year after serving a two-year sentence in a New York prison for driving while intoxicated.
"The moment Lindsay saw Michael, she started running and jumped into her father's arms," an eyewitness to the reunion was quoted by E! Online as saying. "Her father hugged her and swung her around. Lindsay was so happy. It was very emotional."
The self proclaimed new man, Michael didn’t miss any chance to publicly express his desire to see his children, especially Lindsay.
Following his visit at the clinic, Michael, who is usually very talkative with the press, didn’t reveal much about the several hours he spent with Lindsay.
"I can't comment on my relationship with my daughter," he said. "But [the reunion] was amazing."
Michael’s advocate John DiMascio revealed that Lindsay had also expressed her wish to see her father.
"Lindsay wanted to see Michael, he went, and he's in Utah," John DiMascio said
Lohan’s mother Dina confirmed the meeting, as part of a so called "healing process."
"Lindsay, myself and my son, Michael Jr., agreed that it would be good for her to have some closure with the situation with her dad. It's part of the healing process," People quoted Dina, as saying.
"I wanted it to happen for Lindsay. She needed to do this for herself. It’s still her father, no matter how you slice it. It’s still her dad, and God willing he’ll get it," Dina continued.
Since checking into the Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah on August 3, the 21-year-old actress has been visited by her mother together with her younger siblings Cody and Ali. Lindsay is rumored to be leaving rehab in two weeks.
