Richie Sambora is the latest celebrity to join the latest rehab trend. The 47-year-old guitarist checked into a treatment facility in California after rumors emerged that the artist had difficulty getting through a studio taping.
Sambora, who recently announced his split from longtime girlfriend, actress Denise Richards, was in a studio Tuesday to film the June 22 concert special for "MTV Unplugged," with subsequent air dates on VH1 June 23 and CMT June 24.
"Richie Sambora has entered an undisclosed treatment facility in Los Angeles," a rep for Bon Jovi said in a statement to E! News. "He asks that you respect he and his family's privacy at this time."
According to People magazine, Sambora, whose father died of cancer in April, the same month his divorce from Heather Locklear finalized, checked himself in the rehabilitation center on Wednesday.
It is yet unknown whether the program he’s currently undergoing will affect Bon Jovi's summer tour schedule. Hopefully, Sambora will be done by June 24 when the tour kicks off in London.
The official world tour by Bon Jovi won't get started until 2008, so any problems Richie Sambora may be having now won't affect that part of the tour.
